You enter the inn through the Warming Room where the Jotl Stove blazes
a warm winter welcome. The quiet
living rooms, one with a fireplace,
are places to curl up in a rocking chair with a good book or enjoy a parlor
game. Although we were never the first kids on the block to
embrace new technology, we boast high-speed wireless DSL internet access
throughout the inn (and the backyard and Octagon House as well). Our guests can catch up
on their email or surf the internet. Our
seven guest rooms, all with private baths, are decorated with
hand stenciling, antique bedsteads, and handmade quilts, ceiling fans, and have air conditioning available.
While enjoying relaxing before the fire after a day on the slopes or out in the hammock after a day in the mountains, we offer a selection of wine from our travels
and Vermont beer.
Our hearty breakfast offerings include
juice, fruit, cereal, and yogurt; then guests order their choice of
any combination (or all) of Joan's homemade pancakes, French toast made
from our homemade Anadama bread, local free-range eggs any style, local bacon, ham, sausage, and
home fries. In the summer we serve outdoors
on the patio, which is surrounded by our spacious lawn and
gardens.
Millbrook Country Inn is
conveniently located five minutes from some of the finest skiing in the
east.
Sugarbush offers over 100
trails that will satisfy everyone from the first-time skier to the expert. Neighboring Mad
River Glen is famous for its friendly atmosphere and challenging
terrain. For Nordic skiers, excellent ski touring
centers offer both groomed trails and backcountry skiing. Joan is a Mad River Glen
shareholder and avid skier and will gladly help you plan your ski day. For the non-skier, or for taking a break from skiing, both the Sugarbush
Sports Center and the Bridges Sports Center are complete indoor sports facilities.
In summer and fall, the Mad River Valley offers excellent hiking, road and mountain biking, canoeing, kayaking, golfing on the Robert Trent Jones, Sr. designed Sugarbush Golf Course, soaring at the Sugarbush Airport, tennis, horseback riding, and swimming. Or take an unhurried drive down backcountry roads to Shelburne Museum or Lake Champlain, poke around the Valley's antique and craft shops or just relax in our back yard lying in our hammock under our magnificent maples.
